Looking for challenge, fun and adventure in learning? Learn the basics of a beautiful, but challenging language - Hungarian - taught by a dynamic, creative educator, a native speaker. Emphasis will be placed on developing general proficiency for real-life communication, including conversational ability through pronunciation, listening-speaking and reading-writing skills, basic vocabulary and grammar. We will cover practical everyday content areas like personal background and interests, family, work, free time activities, travel, etc. We will do lots of role-plays in the target-culture setting (within contexts such as ordering a meal in a restaurant, making reservations in a hotel, going shopping, making travel arrangements, etc.) You will begin by learning the alphabet and basic greetings and will build up vocabulary to be able to create with the language. You will also get a taste of Hungarian culture through frequently used idioms, colloquialisms and cultural references.

About the instructor: 10 years experience teaching all age groups from kindergarten to college, native speakers and American students; instructor of Hungarian at Harvard University; certified proficiency tester in Hungarian for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and the Defense Language Institute; 9 years experience as a freelance translator and interpreter. I love to teach languages, and promise to make it fun, interesting and educational!
